My contractor installed all new plasterboards and new electric sockets. He installed one behind the stove for the electric starter but the dishwasher is going to be located to the right of the stove. All the plumbing was done and ready. Do I have to have the electric socket right behind the dishwasher or will I be able to use the socket located to the left of it behind the stove. Please help.

He is gone for the day. Yes. Many times the receptacle for the DW is under the kitchen sink on a circuit shared with the disposal.
Same idea. That is why I asked how it was wired.
IF this receptacle is on the kitchen counter receptacle circuit then you CANNOT fed the DW from it. The range would still be OK though.

I don't thing I understood your answer. The outlet is under the cabinets, not above the counter. I just want to know can I connect the dishwasher if the outlet is not directly behind but instead 1 1/2 feet over to the left behind the stove. It is level with the piples for the drain and water for the dishwasher.

Please don't start a new thread to continue a conversation. It causes much confusion as no one knows what is going on this way.

Re-read my reply in the other thread. I did specifically answer this question with a yes..

My dishwasher is connected to a source that is several feet from the dishwasher. I don't think that should be a problem, as long as the cable is installed according to code.

Short answer: Yes.

The receptacle doe not have to be directly behind the dishwasher.
