Contact your county and see what they require before starting a business where you will be charging money for your services.

Call your village, township, county, and state for information about licensing and any other requirements. OR, to keep it easy, go to the public library and ask a reference librarian for this information. It's all available at the library.

Hello Mr:

Hire a CPA. If you call a bureaucrat in your town and ask them if you need a license, what are they going to tell you??

All States are different, Michigan requires a painting license for residential jobs over $ 600.00. If you don't have a licenses and a customer does not want to pay for the job you have no legal recourse. Be sure to understand for your own peace of mind and never go without insurance. Set yourself up for success.
