Potassium iodide's chemical formula is KI. It is composed of potassium ions and iodide ions. It is a "salt".

KI\,=K^+\,+\,I^-

If it reacted with an oxidizer, you would form iodine:

2\,I^-\,+\, oxidizer\, =\, I_2\,+\,reduced\, chemical

The potassium will not react under most conditions as there are essentially no reducing agents strong enough to reduce potassium ions to metallic potassium. You can reduce it electrolytically, however.
