My husband and I have the same bank but single accounts my name is not on on his and viceversa, he took out unsecured line of credit with the same bank all his account are now closed by the bank except his saving. We have to deposit a check that is under both of our names. The bank is allowing me to deposit the check on my account eve though his name is not on it. Since the check is under his name too, can they used this money to cover this unsecured debt? Are they able to see that he has has outstanding debts just by ussing his name and address on the check. Can they use my account as a collateral even if his name is not on my account?

Well I worked at a bank for a long time. My answer would be no they can't touch your account. If his name was on your account then there might be issues. You can deposit any check in to your account but you are the sole owner of that account. His credit issues should have no effect on your account. Just don't put his name on your account.

If he puts money into your account, and the bank or the company he owes, if they can prove he is putting "his" money into "YOUR" account, yes they can ask the court to seize the money that is his.
Personally I would cash the check at some cash service and merely put the cash in so there is no paper trail of his money going into your account.
