Does
3x - 12x 1/2 power=0
mean
3X - sqrt{12X} = 0

If so, move the 12~ to the other side, square both sides to remove the '^1/2' then divide by 9X

3X = sqrt{12X}
9X^2 = 12X
9X = 12X
X = 4/3 or 1.33

Or does that mean

3x - 12x^{\frac{1}{2}} = 0

You can factorise 3x^{\frac{1}{2}} to give
3x^{\frac{1}{2}} (x^{\frac{1}{2}} - 4) = 0

You should be able to take it from there.

Or does that mean

3x - 12x^{\frac{1}{2}} = 0

Actually, raising something to the 1/2 is the same thing as the getting the radical. We apparently see the same problem, with different ways to solve it. Good alternate solution.

Please start your own question instead of replying to one from 2009. Also, please use the math code so we can clearly understand what your problem is. And also post any work showing your attempt(s).
