I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed 2.5 weeks ago via surgery in the hospital. The oral surgeon seems to have left an opening to my upper right sinus after removing my top wisdom tooth. My dentist told me to return to the surgeon to get it packed and stitched up, but my surgeon told me the majority (95%) of the time they heal on their own, gave me antibiotics and said he would see me in three months. I have also been told to keep up with the salt water rinses, which are also come out my nose because of this. I told him that and he said that it was okay. I am now starting to get nosebleeds, which I have never had trouble with in my life and I am very frustrated with this whole situation. Should I get a second opinion from another oral surgeon?

Thanks.

Even though it can heal on its own, if it is impacting your daily life I think you should get another surgeon to take care of it. Let him know that you realize that it could heal on its own, but its disrupting you!

I had my wisdom teeth taken out and it was horrible. Last thing you need is to make it worse on yourself!

That's an oral antral fistula... ive given a guy one of those... usually they'll give you antibiotics, a decongestant, and a antihistamine as a precaution... id give it a bit of time, but go back to him if you are concerned
