I am trying to repair a Tempress II tub/shower diverter that does not allow for full flow to the tub. I purchased a 21/32 shower valve socket and was unable to loosen the valve - the socket "stripped" and lost it's hexagon edges. Before I do any more damage to the diverter valve itself, can anyone recommend a specifc brand of shower valve that is a little sturdier, or is there an alternate style wrench that could be employed? I thought the pass-through sockets might work as an alternate approach, but I wasn't able to find a 21/32 socket for them.

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Gord

Here is what you need to do go get a heavy duty deep socket and a large breaker bar form a tool supply, spray some DW-40 on the diverter nut let is soaked foe an hour give it a try and see, good luck.
