Hello, I have State Select electric hot water heater. Yesterday my water was really hot, today there is no hot water at all. I checked the temperature the upper and lower temperature dial. They are still set where they are supposed to be. Is there a reset button on the unit that I just do not see. If not, do you know what the problem could be?

Their may be a red reset under one of the covers where thermostat is located.

Hi all:
If you had the extreme temperature that you did yesterday I am confident that the thermostat has tripped the safety and will need to be reset as you suspected. It should be under the top access panel on the heater. Shut power, open access panel, remove insulation, remove plastic cover, and press the red button on the thermostat (see picture... red circle). Then reset the power and that should get you up and running again.
Soon thereafter, I would have you replace both the upper and the lower thermostats (cheap to purchase new) as one of the thermostats failed to shut the water down correctly and it will surely fail again. These are sold at sears or home depot and are really easy to swap out with basic skill level. You can purchase universal water heater thermostats almost anywhere. Takes 20 minutes to swap them out once you have them.
I have attached the wiring diagram for most 2 thermostat/2 element water heaters (left wiring diagram is yours).
Let us know if you decide you want to do this.. glad to walk you through details...
