Hi,
I've formatted my hard drive & want to install win xp pro. I have a big problem because
My CD ROM is not working & also there is no USB port. Thus I cannot install from a Cd. Is it possible to install from another hard drive (slave) on the same system?
Help is greatly needed... Thanks inadvance for all your help!

Yes, but the installation files you will need to place on the drive are on the Windows XP CD. A working Windows installation from another computer does not normally contain these files. However, some OEMs and local computer suppliers do place the files on the drive, particularly if they don't provide CD media or a recovery disk. If so, they would most likely be present in an i386 folder under the root of the drive. However, another problem that may be encountered is the product key (on sticker attached to the computer) that will be requested during setup may not work with the files from another machine.
The strategy of least hassle is replacing the CD-Rom drive.

Already mentioned the hard drive is formatted. The only way to get something installed would be with CD.
There is a Really Long way around this but in all honesty, see if you can get/borrow/buy a CD rom just long enough to install from disk.

Install on another hard drive and then move the hard drive to this computer, install and boot with boot cd in drive and do a repair installation.

That to, will just need to search for drivers once on your PC as your PC will obviously have hardware different specs

Thank you ALL,
I guess I might as well buy a new CD Rom and install from the CD.
Thanks again.
