There is a vacant lot in my neighborhood and I am interested in purchasing it. I can't figure out who owns it. The previous owner was Sheridan Homes, but they have recently pulled out of building in this community. The address of the vacant lot is 1107 Alexander Ct Midlothian Texas 76065. I have contacted Sheridan Homes, but they have no idea who has purchased the lot. Can you help in providing any information regarding to this property and whom I need to contact about purchasing it would be appreciated thanks..

Check your county clerk to see who the deed is registered to. Also try the tax collector to see who is paying the taxes.

While the office names differ somewhat, you go down to the county recorder of deeds, they know who owns the property ( name is on the deed) and if there are any loan.

After that you go to the property tax department and see who is being billed for taxes and if the taxes are up to date

You can also check the deed records in the county court house. The tax assessor is sometimes a year behind (especially in rural counties), so you get the APN# (parcel number) and the legal description from the tax office and then head to the deed office and pull the most recent filed deed on the property. That should tell you.

Or you can call an appraiser in your area and see how much they would charge you to look up that info (usually $25-$50 bucks and free if you pay them to give you a value of the property - land appraisal should be no more then $300-$350)
