salam!
while performing salat I get into tension that whether I'll be able to perform all steps properly or not? I usually forget the steps in salat, I am double minded that whether I've performed the steps properly or not like whether I've performed rakoo or not or read sana ETC or not this makes me break the prayer and then I feel like I've committed a sin then instead of starting performing the prayer again I start reading astagfirullah in the thought that if I want my prayers to be accepted then I've to read asthagfirullah...

This might help you.

Customs and ceremonies

Duties. A Muslim's chief duties can be summarized in the Five Pillars of Faith. They are (1) profession of the unity of God and the prophethood of Muhammad, (2) prayer, (3) almsgiving, (4) fasting, and (5) pilgrimage.

Prayer, or Salat. Muslims pray five times daily: at dawn, at noon, in the afternoon, in the evening, and at nightfall. A crier, or muezzin announces prayer time from the minaret (mosque tower). Muslims ceremonially wash their faces, hands, and feet just before prayer. On Friday, Muslims are expected to attend noon prayers at a mosque. The prayer leader faces Mecca. The men stand behind him, and the women stand behind the men. Prayers consist of reciting passages from the Koran and other phrases of praise to God. They include such movements as bowing from the hips and kneeling with the face to the ground. Friday prayers are preceded by a sermon.

Instead of praying by yourself why don't you go pray in the mosque, there you can follow what everyone else is doing

How about finding a muslim brother/sister to help guide you? I'm sure that person would be pleased that you asked for help. Or like Dare81 mentioned pray in your local mosque.

It is important that you do salat correctly, however Allah swt knows your true intentions. Before salat try to relax yourself and get rid of your tention. Try not to worry too much, and remember the more practice of salat the better!

Assalaam alaikum,

First thing is to remember that Shaitan will trick you into making mistakes in prayer and make you doubt if your salat was performed right.

I agree with Dare81 if you could attend salat in the mosque or anywhere where you can join the congregation then you will find it easier to keep track of the actions you have done.

Also as Missy mentioned, try finding a good muslim to guide you in prayer until you are confident, but do not leave off salat.
Perform them on time.

Know that even if we are forgetful of what we did in salat Allah is All-Aware of everything we do.
Insha Allah, you will be rewarded for all that you are doing to perform salat perfectly.

This is common my brother as the devil will always try to keep you away from prayers, so before you start ask Allah to stand with you, and within the prayers whenever you doubt something just say Aootho bellah men al shaytan and keep doing what you doing with confident.

If you thought you forgot something just do the double sojood at the end of prayers and do not restart the prayers again, just don't let the weak devil to take on your mind and don't be much worried about performing the salat perfectly, just be natural my friend and be with God in your prayers..

Please all of you must see this, because none of you told about sujuud as-sahw:

http://abdurrahman.org/salah/index-requirements.html

So go to the page, go down, there is "sajda saahu". These are good scholars of Sunnah, and they explain how Nabii -sAaws- did, when he forgot something in his -sAaws- solaah, and as you all know: we must pray like him.

I have to stress this point still that you must have the correct amount of rakaàt, correct amount of sujuud, rukùu. You can`t just be content with uncertainty. And if you are missing for example a sujuud in a rakaàh, you must do the rakaàh again before making sujuud sahw. All you have given good advice. May Allaah guide us. What I do is when I find myself in my thoughts in sujuud when making du`aa for example I may eventually forget where I was, so I ask Him in the sujuud, and Allaah gives me certainty, and then I know.

And don`t ever break the prayer. I don`t see any reason for something so severe occurring in the mind for a healthy person, except due to hashish, so fear Allaah, and stop it, if you`re smoking it, because it`s destroying your Deen. And if it`s your friends influencing, leave those friends, because they will otherwise be your enemies on the Day of Judgement. And if you avoid seeing and hearing and doing haraam things, your hearts light is protected, and your chest is peacefull, and your memory is working better in sha Allaah. And if I was mistaken, then Alhamdu Lillaah, and hopefully it is beneficial to someone else, because I know how it goes. I`ve certainly been there and, Allaah has saved me from that.

Suplicate to ALLAH that HE may teach you the way HE want you to worship Him.then try to have the salah copy at hand if you can't yet memorize the correct procedure.always do to pray regularly.learned to purify your intention that you will pray to ALLAH to accomplished your obligation to HIM.dont be doubled minded for your just giving shaytan a way and a chance to disturb you and keep whirling on your mind.
May ALLAH guide us all muslims, accept our ibadah to HIM and admit us all to jannah AMEN.
