Today's Gospel (Jn 11:45-56): Many of the Jews who had come with Mary believed in Jesus when they saw what He did; but some went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. So the chief priests and the Pharisees called the Sanhedrin Council. They said, «What are we to do? For this man keeps on giving miraculous signs. If we let him go on like this, all the people will believe in him and, as a result of this, the Romans will come and sweep away our Holy Place and our nation». Then one of them, Caiaphas, who was High Priest that year, spoke up, «You know nothing at all nor do you see clearly what you need. It is better to have one man die for the people than to let the whole nation be destroyed». In saying this Caiaphas did not speak for himself, but being High Priest that year, he foretold as a prophet that Jesus would die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the scattered children of God. So, from that day on, they were determined to kill him.

Because of this, Jesus no longer moved about freely among the Jews. He withdrew instead to the country near the wilderness and stayed with his disciples in a town called Ephraim. The Passover of the Jews was at hand and people from everywhere were coming to Jerusalem to purify themselves before the Passover. They looked for Jesus and as they stood in the Temple, they talked with one another, «What do you think? Will He come to the festival?». Meanwhile the chief priests and the elders had given orders that anyone who knew where he was should let them know so that they could arrest him.

mudweiser,
Sorry but I very much disagree with those sites you posted
There is a lot more to those stories that are purposely left out.
Israel as a political nation WAS destroyed. The beginning of that destruction was in 70 A.D. when the Romans destroyed the temple of Yahweh.
But who finished the job?
Israel did become a nation again in this last century.
The people did REestablish their identity but the early political nation of Israel disappeared from this earth for centuries.

I was unsure about posting it but I did because I wasn't sure if it would be useful information or not.

mudweiser,
It is useful information from the point of view of how some people with an axe to grind will attempt to write history.
The reason I asked the questions as I did was to point out how biblical prophesy has been fulfilled regarding the land now known as Israel.
However I have forgotten the date of when the Arabs destroyed ancient Israel.
The irony of the situation is that the folks who now call themselves Palestinians are what is left over from those that conquered ancient Israel.
Another irony is that the Romans changed the name of the Holy Land to Palestine named after a thoroughly wiped out people by King David know as Philistines.
The Romans did that as a message to the people there to belittle them.
Peace and kindness,

This happened in Judah, beginning with the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah (c. 627 BC),
Judah's last good and godly king (for whom Jeremiah issued a deeply emotional lament
In 2Chr.35:25), until several years after the Babylonian captivity(C.586 B.C.).
King Nebuchadnezzar did this and you can read about in Jeremiah 25.
Hope this helps.

Love and Blessings, Maggie

I was looking for the A.D. date of year that Israel was conquered and no longer existed after that. The Roman legions were then gone.

Fred, if you are going to quote scripture, please do so properly. Give us the book, chapter and verse that you are quoting.

450donn, I was NOT quoting Scripture.
I am interested in the history after what Scripture writes about.
It seems to me that Israel was was destroyed by Arab (Islamic) conquest quite a number of years after what is written in the book of Acts.
What year did that happen?
