I have a 7 year old panasonic TV the picture is closing in at the sides. Someone told me maybe the condenser is going bad another said it might be the tube. What's the fix to this problem can it be fixed? I need help I want to know what the prob. Is before taking it to a technician whose going to charge me a arm and a leg.

When the picture "closes in", it means that the horizontal (side-to-side) or vertical (top to bottom) oscillators are not deflecting the electron beam as far as it should be deflected. On an oscilloscope, you would see that the waveform's peak-to-peak voltages are lower than normal. This can be caused by bad capacitors (condenser), faulty transistors, burned resistors, a number of other things. Unless you have experience with electronics, and repairing televisions in particular, I think you're probably going to have to take it to someone who does have that knowledge ---

--- and probably pay him or her an arm and a leg.

Good luck,
