I am having a problem with some software that does not work... I have been told that something in my registry is stopping it from working.. The software I am using I Belarc Advisor... It looks like your windows registry is damaged. The problem is with the

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MagicUSBCableProgID.1

Can anyone help me with this problem... thank you

I don't know what that particular value is or what it is used for. Also, you didn't say what program was causing problems.

I suggest you uninstall the program that you're having trouble with. Locate a program that will remove embedded nulls in the registry (google "embedded null registry keys"). Also, I suggest running Lars Hederer's program, NTREGOPT:

ERUNT and NTREGOPT (http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/)

You could try NTREGOPT alone and see if that fixes it. NTREGOPT is freeware.

After running the cleanup programs, reinstall the faulty program and see if it works.

If that doesn't work, you can always try System Restore to try to return the registry to an earlier date where it wasn't damaged. A lot of people would try to do that first.

The registry cleaning function of CCleaner is probably not powerful enough to fix your registry, though you can certainly try it: http://www.ccleaner.com

Try using CCleaner, it's a freeware registry cleanup tool.
