Problem with GE refrigerator model gsl25jfpa bs water dispenser not working

This is a common problem with GE side by side refrigerators where the water line freezes in the door. It happened to mine and I spent good amount of time trying to fix it. Ya, it stinks that GE won't fix it but fortunately they have a water line heater that fixes it for $30 and 15 minutes. If your water stops dispensing but the freezer is still making ice, a likely problem is a frozen water dispenser tube. GE produces part number WR49X10173, a water dispenser tube heater, which easily connects to the dispenser control panel to heat the water line just enough to keep it from freezing. Rather than spending time and effort with home remedies, I just call customer service 800-386-1215. GE won't acknowledge this systemic issue and customer relations tried to get me to pay $27 + shipping for a $75.25 part. I cited the documented problems on this site and they ultimately agreed to send / ship it for free.
