Not necessarily, having irregular cycles could be the norm for you, as it is for other women, and many do become pregnant. While having regular cycles each month generally means you are probably ovulating, it is not a guarantee, just as not having a period does not automatically mean you didn't ovulate. Your doctor may or may not suggest testing to determine that you are ovulating.

When you are considering trying to get pregnant, it would be a good idea to see your doctor for a pre-conception visit. They will want to discuss your medical history, do an exam, go over ways to watch for signs that your body may be preparing to ovulate, and answer any questions that you might have. It would also be wise to start taking either prenatal or multivitamins now, in case an unexpected pregnancy occurs. It is recommended to have at least 400mcg of folic acid daily prior to conception as this can help to prevent certain birth defects that occur very early in pregnancy... often before many women even know they are pregnant.

Your doctor will also discuss possible means to help regulate your cycles if it is determined to be beneficial.
