I want to install a photo cell on an electrical circuit that runs to an outside light fixture. There is a black and white wire (and ground) from the house, a black and white wire in the fixture, and the photo cell has a black, white, and red wire.
What is the correct wiring schematic that will allow the photo cell to turn my light off and on?
Thanks.

At the junction where the photocell will be connected, splice all the whites together. The feed black connects to the black on the photocell, the red from the PC connects to the fixture.

Wow, your terminology sounds rather technical.

I installed a photo control light outside the connection from the breaker to the light had no ground wire so I connected the ground from the light directly to the j-box. I turned on the breaker and the light started to turn on then after a few second it turned off so I tested the hot and neutral and both were fine so my question is will the light turn on at dusk is that why it is called photo control

Kaitlyn,

Welcome to our forum. By now you should have the answer to your question.

A photocell turns on at dusk and off at daylight.
