I am a father with a 13 year old and I need to establish paternity for him. His mother died three years ago and I am not on the birth certificate. I need to get his birth certificate
So the school system will not throw him out. How do I partition the court in Maryland so I can have my name put on birth certificate in Atlanta, GA. I need to establish legal paternity.

Are you his legal guardian at this time? Do you have custody of him? If so, you can obtain his birth certificate through the department of vital records. Have a DNA test done to establish paternity. As his legal guardian, you do not have to be on the birth certificate in order for him to attend school in Georgia, but it would be wise to see about doing so. Contact the Maryland vital records office and inquire about the steps necessary to do so. It will likely be necessary to have a copy of his mother's death certificate as well.
