Spinms- the dryer will run the lights and the motor on 110 volts <but the heating elementis 220volts ac;; if you have screw in fuses in the panel box and one is blown< then you will only have 110 power to the dryer:: if you have a meter for testing voltage at least 250 volts ac then go to the cord plug in receptical and test there to see if you have 220 volts ;that will tell you if the trouble is in the dryer or not:: if it is in the dryer -you will need a ( volt-ohm meter ) to do any more testing: they can be gotten at lowe's or home depot for around $10.00 ,in the electrical dept" get one that you can test no less then 250 volts a/c with;;[ #3]-first unplug the dryer from the wall receptical<pull dryer out from the wall: remove the back panel frpm the dryer<[ 3b]- you will see the duct <the heating element sets in : set the volt-ohm meter to the rx1 scale_ leave it on this seting on all the tests we are going to do< power disconnected:: [3c]- {this test is to test for open circuit}disconnect both the wires going to the heating element: clip a meter prob to each of the wire terminals::{3d} if the meter reads between 8 and 20 ohms <the heater does not have a open circuit< if the meter reads {high} the element has a open circuit <replace element:: {#4}- to test for heater grounding {4b] remove both wires from the heating element<connect
One meter probs to wire terminal, touch the other prob to the heater duct, if they needle swings toward the low end <heater is grounded < replace,if needle reads high <heater element is good ::{ #5] - to test the overheat protectors-{ 5a-}- disconnect one of the wires from the protector<{5b-} clip a meter prob to each wire terminal<{ #5c}- if the meter reads {zero ohms} the proptector is good< if it reads high<it is defective - replace;; ( note ) there may be 2ormore protectors on this modle: if it has another one <you will find it on the {air outlet duct} -raise the top of the dryer and you will see the duct : and will see the other protector:(note)
On some modles they have a threeterminal protector< if this one does you test the two out side terminals:: i do
Believe that you will find the trouble at one of these places i have covered <if not come back on to this post and<let me know and if so we will go to the other possible causes: hope this helps <if it does <please rate my answer below :: have a nice day and god bless:: f.b.e.
