I was in car wreack at 5 months pregnant. I had to take vicodin regulary from 5 months to my 7th month in pregnancy. I realized that I was dependent on them for pain and so I stopped cause I had heard that my baby will be dependent as well and that my baby will come out having withdrawals. I am a very concerned mother and do not want this to happen to my child. I am now 37 weeks pregnant and I have not taken any more vicodin since 7 weeks ago and in 3 more days will make it 8 weeks ago. Do you that since I have been off them this long and if I was to have this baby today or maybe in a couple of days that my baby would come out having withdrawals? I am not a person that likes to take drugs. I am just a concerned mother and was not warned about this. Any true thoughts and honest answers would be helpful.

First, you are lucky you are still pregnant. I was on vicoden when I was pregnant, which I didn't know, and I lost my baby.

Second, your child may have health issues, I don't know about withdrawl. A friend of mine smoked when she was pregnant and the baby didn't act as if it was going through withdrawl, however she has other health issues.

You should talk to your doctor but if you don't feel comfortable doing so, call a clinic and talk to them.

Best of luck to you.

Fortunately, your baby will not go through withdrawals, it's been way too long since you have taken the last pill and it has gone through the baby's system by now.
