Decomposition of a carbonate will always form a what as one of the products?

One of the tests for whether a substance contains a carbonate is to add acids like hydrochloric acid or sulphuric acid... if a fizz is observed due to the liberation of carbon dioxide then the substance is a carbonate...

So the answer to your question is CO2 - carbon dioxide.
