Hi All,

I want to file an amendment return for FY 2007. Originally, I filed a 1040NR-EZ form. Now when filing a 1040X, should I include amended 1040NR-EZ only OR can I file amended 1040/1040A variant also?

I would prefer a 1040A as I have it ready from TaxAct :)

Thanks for your help.

Cheers!

Why do you need to file amended tax return?

Hi MukatA,

Thanks for your response. When I filed my return in 2007, I did not add my education expenses (1098-T Form from my University). Now, I find that I get more return if I claim education expenses. That's the main reason for the amendment.

Cheers!

And one basic question... Can I claim my tuition fees (on my 1098-T form) as deductible? Or is it only the interest I paid for the education loan? Can you please clarify?

Thanks!

In 2007 you filed nonresident tax return. First you have to figure out if are nonresident or resident.
If you must file nonresident return, then you will not get tuition and fee deduction.
