Hi, Sir,

I am here under J-1 trainee visa. I am non-resident alien for tax filing purpose.
My employer did not withhold social security tax or medicare tax based on my visa status and my employee status.

I am going to file with 1040NR-EZ (with Form 8843) and am now stuck with the column16 (unreported social security tax and medicare tax) of 1040NR-EZ.

In that column, can I still put zero(0) and simply file 1040NR-EZ with Form 8843 because I do not have to pay social security tax?

Or

Do I need to file form 8819 (then I need to pick up the reason code of G which leads me to file form ss-8)?

Thank you very much in advance.

Leave Line #16 blank; you are EXEMPT from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) taxes.
