Hi,
At work, we have a windows small business server (SBS) 2003.I have stopped automatic restarts on the server, thus after updates are installed the server does not restarts itself. However, due to other unknown reasons the server restarts itself and on the event viewer (id 6008) the message reads " the previous system shutdown at... was unexpected.
My question is, how do I configure the server so it tells me exactly what program or hardware caused the restart?
This will make troubleshooting a lot easier. Thanks in advance!

To chek the problems on a PC go to the adminiatrative tools oncontrol panel and liik under event viewer this should tell you iif something is going wrong with there server

Be sure to check that the UPS battery is working. Also that ESE at night, when defragging the Exchange Store is not running out of space.

Most of the time, it's one of those two for SBS.

Thamks!

It was the online UPS that caused the restarts. Carried out a couple of tests & confirmed it was due to power failure.

Thanks again!

Andrew you apparently didn't clearly read or understand the original posting, the OP already went exactly where you said and gave the exact wording of the error. Don't give out guidance that mimics what the poster has already stated, or that doesn't resolve the issue or isn't even related to the issue.
