I switched on my Carrier 58GS075-BA last weekend to cool down my house, and the fan never stopped running. The thermostat is in the off position, and the fan kept running, doesn't seem to matter if its on heat or cool. I stopped the fan with the on/off switch on the side of the furnace. Last night I raised the thermostat up (with the intent of lowering the temp to see if I could get the compressor to kick on) and fan continued to run. Then lowered the theromostat down to get the compressor to kick on and nothing happened, (other that that the fan continues to run).
What is going on, and how should I go about trying to fix it. (I'm pretty handy)
Thanks
James

Is the fan switch on the thermostat in the "Auto" position?

Yes, the fan is in the auto position. But if I slide the switch to off, the fan keeps running.

Not familiar with your particular unit - but have seen a similar situation with another unit due to a stuck relay on the control board inside the air handler.

If the relay is stuck, where would I get a replacement board? Any help again would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

If that's the route you choose to take, you can find or order one from a local or online AC supplier or appliance parts dealer. Since you are not in the trade - it will likely be expensive locally and some might not even sell it to you. Then again, you really don't know if that's the fix and you may be wasting your money. I recommend you have a local professional evaluate and repair your problem.
