Private Insurance
First you may have a problem just getting insurance coverage, and if you do, it will be rated up.
Also it will not cover any pre existing condition for normally at least one year, some will include waivors that will not ever cover certain conditions.

Group, if you go to work for some larger companies, their group plans often cover pre existing conditions.

First, every state regulates their own insurance industries. What may be correct in Fr Chuck's state will different in other states.
And it differs if you currently have insurance or how long you have been without it and whether it is individual, group or group self funded.
Before taking anyone's advice here you will need to be much more specific about your situation.
