how would you do a problem that is
2 2 2 2
(5x y- 5xy) - 2(2x y+(3xy ) - (2XY- 5XY )

CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO DO THIS

I guess I don't understand the problem. Are the 2s numerators and the things below denominators or are they squares? I guess they're squares.

Are you trying to simplify (5x^2y - 5xy) -2(2x^2y +3xy^2)-(2xy-5xy^2) ?

Expand the center section, -2(2x^2y + 3xy^2) using the distributive law. Collect like terms (-5xy -2xy) = 7xy for example. You might then refactor it to get it into a more usable form -- or not, depending on what you want to do with the problem.

Hello leigh

There is a way to display mathematic posts properly on this board.

See the post "How to: technical and scientific documentation/formulas" (top line) or click this LINK. (http://www.forkosh.com/mimetextutorial.html)

To post simple signs you can also hold down 'Alt' and key-in a number

You can post square signs with holding down 'Alt' and key in 253 for ²
Or do the same sequence with holding down 'Alt' and key-in 252 for ³

Did you mean (5x²y- 5xy) - 2(2x² y + (3xy²) - (2xy- 5xy²)??
