Hi Experts,

I understand that last year I was suppose to file 1040 NR-EZ being on F1 status but I have incorrectly filed 1040 instead. I am filing the amended return this year. The question is that 1040 NR-EZ for this year asks about the return I have filed last year. So should I write 1040 (which I have filed last year) or should I write 1040 NR-EZ (as I am amending the last year's return)

Thanks,

If you are filing tax return without filing amended tax return for 2007, then write Form 1040. If you are filing 2008 return after filing amended return, then write 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ (the return that you attached with amended tax return,).

Hey,

Is it necessary that I should get a confirmation from IRS after filing the amended return and then only I should write 1040 NR-EZ in my current return?

You can put "Form 1040 (to be amended to Form 1040NR-EZ)".
