Is it possible that my puppy ate a spider and got bit in his mouth and that's what killed him?

I'm very sorry. I seriously doubt it, but I don't know what part of the world you live in, or what kind of spider this was. What were the symptoms, and how long was he sick? Did you take him to a vet? How long did you have him, and how old was he? Also, where did you get this puppy?

Hi, kacy_leigh!

I'm so sorry about your puppy! I agree with starbuck8, above. Also, what would make you think that it was a spider that killed him?

Thanks!

He couldn't open his mouth and when we pried it open he had two bumps that looked like spider bites... and he was having a really hard time breathing and he was shaking all the time... he was cold.. nut yes we did take him to the vet and they said he was electricuted but when we checked the wires in the house there were no frayed or chewed wires the could have shocked him

Is there any chance that perhaps it was a snake bite? I only ask because you said there were two spots and many curios puppies would love to bite a hold of a weird wiggling thing and there are may species of snakes that have neurotoxins.

This is why you really need to keep a very close eye on young pup's. They can get into anything and everything. I would tend to go by your vets diagnosis. It doesn't take much for a pup to get electrocuted. A cord doesn't have to be frayed. Those tiny puppy teeth are sharp, and he just had to bite through one in the right place.

I had a puppy die when I was young, of electrocution. It was heartbreaking. We were camping, and we had taken him outside and tied him up for just a matter of minutes. We went out to get him, and he was frothing from the mouth and he was convulsing. There were bumps in his mouth too. They turned out to be burns. He was frothing from the mouth, and his eyes were back in his head. (sorry for the graphics) We rushed him to the emerg. Vet. He didn't survive.

The vet said it was electrocution. We cried and cried. When it was light out the next day, my mom found a few tiny holes in the extension cord that supplied the power to our motorhome.

So, it doesn't take much for a wee pup that is teething, to chew on a wire and for that electrical current to travel through their little bodies. :(
