Hi,
Can I include the expense of transporting my Car from MA to WA and WA to CT in the Form 3903? I have the following expense for example :
Car transport
Transport cost from MA to WA : 1275
Transport cost from WA to CT : 1100
Flight Expense
MA to WA : 100
WA to CT : 180
Temp Accommodation : 100
Can I take these above mentioned expenses in the form 3903?

Yes, you can, IF you met the time conditions for claiming moving expenses.

Why did you go all the way across the country from MA to WA and then from WA to CT?

Thank you Atlanta Tax Expert
As for your questions Intl Tax : I got a project in WA hence move from MA to WA but after 2 months, the project was closed and I got another project in CT. Hence all these moves.
Thanks

You do not qualify for moving expenses from MA to WA. You may be able to claim travel expenses, which includes lodging and 1/2 of meals.
You may qualify for moving expenses from WA to CT if you plan to work for 39 weeks.

Mukta,
I remember reading that if the move is for the convenience of the employer, the move with less days can be deducted. Please note that I am a consultant and the projects were placed by the employer, with no travelling or moving expenses allocated.

Vanitha:
I agree with your assessment; the moving expenses will be allowed because the moves were for the convenience of the employer.
