I have`tried everything on my Samsung TV but I cannot get Hd to work but it still doesn't get the channels advertised and it `a HDMI TV please help

Are you attempting to get programming directly from a terrestrial broadcast station, a satellite receiver, a cable converter or directly from the cable?

For terrestrial TV your TV needs to feature an ATSC/DTV tuner. Many sets with these functions are marked "DTV" or "HDTV". Sets designated "HDTV ready" are actually high definition monitors that require an external tuner, satellite receiver or cable converter for HD viewing. If your TV has a ATSC tuner you may have to make the TV do a channel scan then enter the sub-channel when you use the remote control's number pad ("10.1" or 10-1" instead of just "10").

People with older NTSC TVs (often referred to as "analog") will be able to view digital direct from broadcaster programming in standard definition using one of the converters participating in the US coupon program.

Many cable systems make local broadcast stations available to digital TVs connected directly to the cable. To view these channels you will need a TV with ATSC-QAM functions. When viewing with the TV's built in tuner the channel assignments probably won't match the listings in your local paper, Internet TV listing sites or on your cable company's channel lists.

With the appropriate subscriptions you will be able to view HD with a digital satellite receiver or rental cable converter. Use of this equipment requires the use of a HDMI or component video cable, thus you are actually using your "TV" as a high definition monitor. You must have a satellite receiver or cable converter with "High Definition" capabilities to view HD this way. Older digital satellite receivers and digital cable converter models might be limited to standard definition (SD) outputs.

Please be aware that many high definition channels (direct, satellite and cable) only provide high definition programming for part of their schedule.
