Hi. My name is Char. I attend the 12th grade in high school, but my two classes are 11th grade Travel and Tourism (Geography) and 10th grade Drama, in that order. It should be noted that I was recently diagnosed with autism as well as Asperger syndrome. In my drama class there is this boy, Jeremy, who seems to like me but because of the Asperger syndrome it is difficult to correctly read the signs. Oddly enough a boyfriend I had from July 2002 to January 2004 had Asperger syndrome, but this was obviously several years ago so we didn't know I was on the autism spectrum at the time. I was also two-and-a-half years his senior. Anyway with Jeremy, I seem to notice several signs: he always starts our conversations at the beginning of class, when he is talking to me he tries to position himself slightly higher up by sitting on a chair or block (I have a physical disability in addition to the autism and Asperger syndrome, and sitting on the floor like the rest of my classmates would be difficult, so I use my wheelchair during the majority of class time), when I don't understand something in class he will explain it to me VERY patiently - and by the way the patience also showed when my Asperger syndrome made it nearly impossible to speak one day in February, and he tried so hard to understand what I wanted when nobody else even bothered - and today we were playing a game called Four on the Couch, or The Name Game, and he asked me, "Char, what name do you have?" and I was instructed not to tell him but he correctly guessed and it is my opinion that he was deliberately trying to get me to sit next to him. Also over the last few days I have noticed him passing by the special classroom my school has for students with physical disabilities, where I often am, and I haven't normally seen him walking past the room. Could he be trying to find me more?

Anyway, I would appreciate this question being answered. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

Signed,

Char from Ontario, Canada

Hi Char,

Just want to say that I'm sorry to hear about your disabilities but you seem to be dealing with them impeccably.

I don't know if this guy likes you, he may just be trying to be nice, he may really like you.

The only way to know for sure, ask him.

One way or another you know then, if he does, great, if not, time to move on and find someone that does!
