I am 27. I am from China and finished studies in UK. I was caught shoplifting £3 goods in Primark in Liverpool to avoid waiting in long queue to pay. But I spent nearly £100 in that store two days ago. Such a stupid thing I have done I know and I will not do it again. The store' security and another guy took me to a room. They searched my bag and asked me some questions. The police was not involved. They took my name, date of birth, age and address. They told me that I will be banned from this store and some other stores in the city but I did not sign anything. I wonder what will happen next? Will they write to me to ask to go to court, fine me? Will I get criminal record? Will it affect my stay and looking for a job in UK.
I am feeling very guilty of my action now. So stupid. I cannot sleep well and do not want to go out. But I will appreciate if anyone can help me with this. Many thanks.

I knew it was wrong. It is not because I did not want to pay. I just did not want to stand in a long queue for those £3 ring and bracelet after a long day shopping around in the city. I know it is still theft. I don't know what I was thinking in my mind. Stupid I know I was. If you can help me with my question, I will appreciate it. Thanks.

This thusday 12th march. So you mean nothing will happen from now on. Like they will send me a letter regarding court or fine. etc. I will not get criminal record. Thank you.

Thank you. I hope so. I will not do any misdeed again. I am feeling I am a bad person at the moment. But how long do you think I should wait. Do you think they will pass my details to police? Or why did they take my details?
