Came home from work this morning and the main water line from the meter to the house had broken and water was flowing outside of the house. Called the plumbers they came out and fixed the problem. We went around and tested everything and everything seemed to be fine. About a hour and half after the plumbers left I took a shower. Everything was fine. Water temp and pressure were normal. I got out of the shower and was getting dressed. Then I hear this cracking noise and then water flowing. It was a similar sound made when the toilet is flushed. I went to go check and water was exploding all over the bathroom coming from what appeared to be the air vent. I mean it was exploding all over the place like spewing. I went down to the basement and turned the water off and the water stopped. In the basement underneath where the bathroom is there was a little bit of flooding. And water was dripping from one of the cast iron pipes. Does anyone have an idea what happened and whether it might have been a problem waiting to happen or if this resulted from something the plumber did or failed to do when installing the main water line
