I just dyed my hair a red colour and its gone quite patchy!! I really want to go back to either a brown or a dark brown. I take it the best way to do this other than spend a fortune in a salon is to use black? My hair's been black before and I don't mind it being black again esp as I have a no 2 haircut!! I presume that black will almost def cancel the red out? Can anyone please help me!?

It's not a good idea to dye your hair black to fix color gone wrong. "If you dye it black, you can't go back" is a mantra. Though not completely true, it's difficult to do anything after dyeing it black but let it grow out.
I suggest you use ColorFix to remove the color and bleach or dye it again.

I'm sure that others will pop in and suggest other things.
To answer your question, however, black will cancel out the red, but you probably won't like it.

Hi Perito, thanks for your message.
I've had my hair black in the recent past for a couple of years so going back there isn't a problem at all for me,lol!! I've also got a number 2 haircut at the moment so its not going to damage my hair particularly as it is so very, very short!!
I just need to get rid of this awful orange-red colour and then I can shave the black out if I want in a week or two.
Thanks for your reply,
Perito

Your choice. Personally, I'd use ColorFix to get out the artificial pigment in the hair, then bleach it.
Good luck.
