A 22.50-g piece of an unknown metal is heated to 100. c, then transferred quickly and with out cooling into 100. ML of water at 20.0 C. The final temperature reached by the system is 26.9 C.

A. Calculate the number of heat absorbed by the water.
B. Deyermine the quanity of heat lost by the piece of metal.
C. Calculate the specific heat of the metal in J/g C.

This is relatively straight-forward. You know the mass of the metal. You also know the volume of water, so you can calculate its heat capacity. If you knew the heat capacity of the metal, you could calculate the final temperature. Given the final temperature, you can back-calculate the heat capacity of the metal.

Give it a shot and see what you come up with.
