My husband and I have been renting a house for 1 year. Recently the bathroom sink got clogged . My husband is a handyman and doesn't mind doing repairs for the house at no charge. When he tried unclogging the sink he said it was the plumbing that needed to be looked at. He notified the landlord. She told him he needed to repair it, he told her he had already made an attempt but he was not going to do plumbing work for free. She said that it was our fault the sink was clogged and she was not going to pay to have it unclogged. At that time she also stated that we have not been doing the gardening for the home, which was something that was never mentioned to us and is not on our lease. When we moved into the house the same sink was cracked, we took pictures of it but unfortunately our laptop was stolen and we lost all our picutes. Well a few weeks ago that crack created a whole in our sink, when we told her about it, she told us it was our responsibility to put a new sink in the bathroom, because according to her it was our fault that the sink had a whole in it. She also makes us pay for our water bill, I'm not sure but I thought the owner of the property paid for the water bill? What can we do about this ?

The water bill can go either way, yours or hers but it needs to be spelled out in the lease. If there is no mention of the water in the lease then its your responsibility. First off you got a real winner with this lady. She is either pushy or dumb as a brick. The plumbing and all home repairs are her responsibility including rodding the drain. Now if she did get the drain rodded and they pull out non sewage debris like cooking graese, cigarette butts, etc... then she could come back to you for the money. Read your lease carefully, if something like gardening is not in the lease then you don't have to do it and that includes mowing the lawn.

Ell first it can't have a whole in it, it would have to have a hole. Anyway, if it ever clogs again just use Mr. Muscle lol
