Hi cat, I think that is a really great idea ! I do think you will need to be bonded though, because there will valuable property in these houses. You can start by going to your local police and tell them you want a background check done. I pay $25 for mine every two or three years in my home town. It takes a week. I have be bonded for my employer as I am a cert. Personal Support Worker for my employer Cdn. Red Cross and I go into clients homes during the day.

Yes you will need a business license. I don't think you will need a licence to perform this service either. But will you be charging PST and GST ? If so, you will need a Provincial tax license to charge back your clients and they will have to pay the Goods and Services Tax on your invoices. You will then have to witthold this to payback quarterly to the Province.

I hope this helps.
