If a car of mass 1280 kg is moving along a highway at 130 km/h, what is the car's kinetic energy as determined by someone at rest alongside the highway?

Kinetic energy is calculated by KE = 1/2 mv^2. KE is usually expressed in units of kg m^s/s^2, or joules. So you should convert the Km/h figure to m/s and then do the calculation.

30*1000/(60)²=31.11m/s
K=½(1280)(31.11)²=619kj-->Kinetic energy
