In 10/2004 I received an Assault (Felony) on my record. The consequences I felt where extreme, but it is what it is. I'm hoping this August 09' when my 4 year probation period is over, I will take action to hopefully seal/expunge my record or at least this from it. Does anyone have advise on this for me. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me. This is not part of my true character, but when looking for employment, has been a deal breaker for me. Thanks for any help!

Depending on what state you are in you will have to wait at least 8-10 years from conviction date to even ask for a sealing or expungement of your felony. And then you would need an attorney and wait several months while the court decides to grant you the expungement or not. It's way too early to even start the process now.
