Hi All -

I've posted here a couple times on and off over the last year and posted my story quite a while back. Being able to get things out in the open here has been extremely therapeutic! Today is the 1 year anniversary of the official break up of my former 5 yr relationship. It was brutal and mentally challenging, and I thought I wanted to die (literally!), especially considering I wanted to marry the girl.

It's been a year of enormous personal transformation. I've lost 40 lbs and got myself into the best shape of my life. I've gotten my career and finances back on track. I've been working with an awesome mental-health professional and have gotten my self-esteem and emotions better than they have in years. I've started dating again and it feels great and am getting great responses. On top of it all, the break up taught me what qualities I'm *REALLY* looking for in a woman. It might not prevent all future breakups, but it'll definitely help me make better decisions in the future.

In essence, we *DO* survive. Time *DOES* move on. We *DO* heal. You *WILL* heal. I know there's probably someone out there posting tonight about a new breakup, or an impending one. I was in your shoes and have felt your pain. It's not easy and it's a hellish path - but know that it will get better, by giving time, NC and personal focus the chance to work its magic. Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations on your anniversary. It is hard for fresh break-upers to see your side, but it helps to hear it. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and you can only learn many things from such a great loss, about yourself and your future.

Thank you for the update. Congrats again.

Thanks for the update.

Inspiring to hear, as just said, there is light at the end of the tunnel, however dim it is!

Congrats.

I truly wish you the best of luck. :D
