Hello... My two year old son has been diagnosed with severed tooth decay on his 4 upper front teeth (right now it is quite infected and he has been given antibiotics)... The doctor recommended two options that we can choose from: 1st - extract and/or do root canal through oral sedation or 2nd - extract and/or do root canal through GA... I am honestly at odds here.. my main concern is the side effects of these procedures on my son... physically and emotionally? Which of these two treatments/procedures has less side effects and of course safe to pursue? Please help!

Danicajon,
It depends how your son is in the dental office. If he is comfortable with the surroundings and staff then the ideal would be conscious sedation. If he won't sit still or open his mouth for the dentist then a GA would be a good choice. Either way he won't remember too much if anything of the treatment. Of course there is always a risk with any new medications or GA.
If your son's teeth are infected I'd try to choose the method that would allow the treatment to be completed sooner.
Good luck.
