I need help with a pending case in provincial court. I am not a lawyer and can not afford on and have tried everywhere to find information. Could use advice and help on what to expect and how to represent myself. Charges are for alleged renovations

Charges are for alleged renovationsI'm quite certain "alleged renovations" is not an offence. What are the real charges?

2 search warrants a stop work order an order to comply and the five charges relating to this are failing to comply with a stop work order, failing to comply with and order to comply, changing the use of a building creating a hazard, occupying a building without an occupancy permit and constructing without having a permit. Have been to court unrepresented by counsel and now have $5000.00 in fines. For renovating one room in my building. I guess if I quit eating I will be able to afford a lawyer, the judge did not like that I did not have one

Unfortunately you will need one since arguing this will necessitate knowledge of the local code and of court procedures.

I know the local codes and development charges act and the building code and everything else needed but am not a lawyer and was not experienced in the procedure and had a judge who was in a hurry and did not like that I did not have a lawyer and why don't we throw in that I am a woman and my building inspectors are men

You won't the reaction you want from me since my wife is a lawyer and can deal with men and woman lawyers equally, same goes for judges and any other witnesses/professionals/experts.

As you have been so kind to answer my posts I will let you know that I live in hickville Ontario Canada and there is more to it that I have not included. I also am a business woman who is able to work with both men and women but some of the other issues include dealing with municipal issues and the old boys club. I have built and renovated for over 25 years in an industry where still today some men do not treat women as equals and this is one of them. My issue was that I did not know procedure for court as I am also a law abiding person who has never been involved with the law. But thank you for answering the post

If you are law abiding I don't understand the charges - were you not told to stop or desist and continued to remodel?

Or are these trumped up charges?

Again - old boy network or not, hickville or not, I am female, I live in a small town, it's an old boy network and I've never been discriminated against. Stop focusing on gender and start focusing on what happened and how to resolve it.

Yes we did stop the renovation and nothing else was done unfortunately the building inspector was allowed to lie about what was done. And the judge stopped me from saying that he was not correct A bathroom that was installed in the 60's electrical that was done in the 60's and the inspector is the expert. The charges were laid a week before a human rights case and yes the charges were fake and done maliciously. Doing research on this issue on provincial offences only got me "sign the back of your ticket" Thank you for your response to the post and yes I will find a way of dealing with what comes next as this has been going on since 2006

If people are bringing suit against you with false or misleading information, then get a lawyer who will countersue which will include court costs. If you are confident you can prove your case with facts and expert testimony, they you should find a lawyer to take it and you may not incur any costs.
