I am very confused right now. I started my period Sunday the 20th, exactly when it was due. I bled a little that night and very little the next morning. I haven't bled any since then. I have then cramps and I feel like I am going to start back up at any moment, but nothing. I took two pregnancy tests yesterday and they were both negative. This is the first abnormal period I have ever had. Am I pregnant? Is something wrong with me? It's awful just sitting around wondering what is going on. I don't feel pregnant and my mother told me not to worry about it. Should I just retest in a few days or what?

You do not mention if you are on any form of birth control. Are you or have you ever been? If so what kind and for how long?

Also, what is your age?

I hate to answer a question with a question, but just like at the doctor's office he needs a whole history before beginning a physical. I have to have "all my ducks in a row" before I can understand what is happening.

I am almost 24 years old. I have been on the pill in the past but not currently. I don't think I'm pregnant. I woke up this morning with the worst cramps I've ever experienced and a gush of bright red blood. For the last two hours I've been tempted to go to the emergency room because the pain has been so bad. I feel like my ovaries are about to explode, not to mention how bad my back hurts. I've never experienced this kind of intense pain except one other time before. I'm wondering if I've possibly had a miscarriage. This happened about 3 years ago and the pain was similar;unbearable. The pain is starting to ease up now. If my next period is not regular I will definitely be going to the doctor!

In my learning it is time to go to the ER if you cannot get into the doctor today!!

Bright red blood is most likely a serious problem. With the pain you are experiencing I am wondering if it is not an ectopic pregnancy (tubal pregnancy) that may have ruptured. If it is this, which I am hoping it is not, it can be life threatening.

It is best to get checked out. It is the only body you have, best to take care of it now.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

Well... I never thought of that. I never went to the ER either. The pain finally went away and I had what felt like normal menstrual cramps. I've also had what seems like a normal period for the last 3 days. I'm thinking maybe a miscarriage. I have no pain now, and all seems well, but I still plan on seeing a doctor.

Well, if the pain is gone now, then you are past the worst.

Yes, it could have been a miscarriage and it is best you get into the doctor to make sure everything is okay now.

Good luck and keep me posted.
