While each area is different, you get a city business licenese. You will want insurance most likely, and remember that you are responsible for all the taxes out of the pay you get.

Hi, ijazahmed08!

Yes, speaking with city officials is one way to see if you need a license and also possibly how you might obtain one. One of the things that I do for a living, is that I'm an interior painter. I do some exterior, but mainly interior. The thing with that is, that I don't do painting that's really high up anymore. I don't need a license to operate where I work, but I definitely have liability insurance.

If you would like some ideas on how to get your business going, please let me know. I have lots of ideas about that...

Also, how much and what kind of actual painting experience have you had, please? By what kind, I mean how have you applied the paint and what have you painted.

Thanks!
