If Cumbria is a town in the US, then it is a part of a county (except in Louisiana). The county government maintains birth & death records many of which can be accessed through the internet. If Cumbria is a small town, there will be fewer funeral homes and possibly just one. Find the funeral home or cemeterary in Cumbria. A phone call may produce the needed info. If not, then most of those folks are very ready to assist & might give you even better search advice.
