View Full Version : Texturing walls in new closet

Greetings everyone! I have a question about a possible shortcut.

I'm finishing the walls in a new closet I built. I plan to tape and mud the joints just once over, rather than going through the effort of really smoothing them out with multiple passes... and as such, I will need to hide the irregularities with some wall texture.

To save time, it occurred to me that maybe I could mix texture material with drywall primer, and roll it on, all in one step. Anybody ever try that?

I'd paint it afterwards, with just one coat of cheap interior paint. I just want to have some kind of light orange-peel type texture on the walls, without all the work of using my texture hopper in such a small and hidden space.

Any suggestions appreciated, as always.

Give it a go. There are no rules I know of when it comes to experimenting.
What you can do is spackle the walls w/ a skim coat then when that dries use a small clean up broom and throw some spackle at the walls and use a trowel to "knock it down". It will give it a stucco like appearance.
