I work at a bar, I am the main bartender and I do my job very well, I've never had a complaint or made a major mistake (when I first started, I did make some mistakes (very few) but now I'm a pro!! I come in early every day and I show up on my days off when I'm called in. I have never called in sick. The problem is, I constantly get berated by the drunk owner. Nothing is ever good enough for her. She feels like she has to tell me every little thing to do even though I am very proficient at the job. I work hard, I work fast and I treat the place as my own. I just don't understand what the problem is or what to do about it. Not only that, but she was drunk lastnight and talking bad about me to a table full of people making me lok bad. I know I can't say anything or I'll probably get fired, and I already do my job to the fullest... so what to do?? Any ideas?? I've tried just taking it with a grain of salt and just saying "Yes M'am" but this is really getting to me. I'm taking time away from my family just to deal with being treated like a slave!

The crapper is that you've just got to deal with it - until and unless you can get a better job. Jobs are hard to come by. Play the game until you can get on somewhere better :)

Drunks are hard to deal with, you should know that from working in a bar. I have a neighbor who is wonderful sober but drunk, they have to tell you everything over and over.

So your choice is
1. put up with it
2. say something and risk being fired
3. quit and go to another job

Thanks guys. I love the job and I want to stay, the money is great. So I guess I'll just deal with it! It's going to be rough! Some drunks are friendly and respectful and then there are those that get to be "know it alls", then some get mean... it's just extra tough because she's the boss! There's nothing I can do besides smile and keep on! Thanks for the support.
