HELP! I have a Gateway TC7307u which is a week old. The keyboard is real stiff, I've got huge problems trying to make the letters type properly, especially the '.' and the 'l' letters. It winds up that I miss a lot of letters when I type, which is annoying to no end because I have to keep going back to retype everything all over again. And the 'ctrl' won't hold properly, when I type ctrl+c the whole block of text is written over instead.

For example, if I don't go back and correct my typing "I'd win up typing ike this instead." It's very annoying because you can see I miss out a lot of letters.

What should I do? What sort of problem is this and do I have to buy a new keyboard? Thanks in advance!

If your new keyboard is only a week old, and you still have receipt, take it back, explain the problem and get a new one.

The problem is, though, that when I first tried out the keyboard on the store display model I knew it wasn't a brilliant one. I bought this computer thinking I would eventually be able to get used to typing on it, but no luck. Do you still think I should take it back and ask for a new keyboard?

Check if there is residue of liquid that might be spilled on the keyboard. Also, it is very easy for laptop keyboards to accumulate dirt under the keys.
