I have a porta cable and dewalt 5" orbital sander. The sand paper that are hoop and loop just do not stay attached with the felt backing. As I am using them on log furniture I need a peel and stick type sand paper however I have been told that I have to change the pads to use them. When I asked people here about getting new pads for these sanders no-one seems to know anything about them. Do they exist? How do I get them and will the same pad work on both the dewalt and the porta cable sander?

Do they exist?

What sanders do you have? A Google (http://www.google.com) search for "Porter Cable 5" psa pad" yielded Porter Cable 394001 5'' P.S.A. 8 Hole Pad (http://www.tools-plus.com/porter-cable-394001.html?utm_medium=feed&utm_source=froogle&utm_term=P-A394001") and 5" PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) Pad for Porter Cable 344001 (http://www.plumbersurplus.com/Prod/Porter-Cable-344001-5-PSA-Pad/80567/Cat/195?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=googlebase&cvsfa=63&cvsfe=2&cvsfp=80567). If your current sanders' pads are compatible, I would expect similar compatible PSA pads could be found.

Have you tried flapwheels (http://www.klingspor.com/products/Klgprfla.html), countour wheels (http://www.abrasivesoasis.com/proddetail.asp?prod=sg81090x), stars, flutter sheets (http://www.klingspor.com/products/klgprspec.htm), or a sanding mop (http://www.stockroomsupply.com/The_Sanding_Mop.php)? They might work better on round stock.

I've ordered from this company before. Lots of stuff. I believe they have your pads.

I got a bunch of H&L bulk sandpaper. The price was unbeatable. I should have purchased some of their hook sheets.
